Love love love my Midnight Ink Silk Pillowcase. Looks so great on my bed and a delight to sleep on. Another reason it is difficult to get out of bed on cold Melbourne winter mornings.

Washing Options

Dry Clean

The star quality service would be to dry clean your silk, and for the plain coloured robes it's your only option, (other than spot cleaning). We get it though, not everyone has the time or money. Don't worry, for the patterned designs there are other options, but if you do want to treat it the best way possible, then head to your local dry cleaner.

Hand Wash

Hand washing is the second best option.

1) Fill a sink or bucket with lukewarm water and add the recommended amount of silk/wool detergent. Do not use standard detergent—must be silk/wool detergent. (Usually liquid form and can be found at the supermarket)

2) Dunk your garment into the water and lightly squeeze the fabric. Do not scrub or rub too roughly. Rinse with clean water afterwards. Do not ring.

3) Hang to dry.

NOTE: For a special treat, we recommend, after washing, to rinse your silk in another bucket of water with a splash of white vinegar. Keeping the fiber acidic will make sure it stays strong and healthy with a lovely sheen.

Machine Wash

Machine washing is the third option, but as long as you're not doing it too often, it's completely fine.

1) Place in a laundry bag and put your machine on a silk/delicates cycle. MUST use silk/wool detergent, not standard detergent. (Usually liquid form and can be found at the supermarket)

2) Hang to dry on a coat hanger.

NOTE: If you're going to machine wash your silk, we highly recommend you pamper your silk afterwards with a vinegar bath. After wash, fill a sink or a bucket with lukewarm water and add a splash of white vinegar. Rinse, then hang to dry.

Keeping the fiber acidic will make sure it stays strong and healthy with a lovely sheen.

Iron

Your garment will likely need ironing or steaming after hand or machine washing.

If you have a steamer, they're great, but don't be too afraid of the iron either. Just put it on a light to medium setting and don't forget about it and head off to make a cup of tea.
